Description

Autumn 1944. Territory of liberated Lithuania. Major Elagina and Sergeant Major Fedorenko are going for a new assignment to the Front headquarters. Along the way, they are attacked by armed men. With difficulty they manage to get to the nearest village, where a special combined battalion of the Red Army is located, commanded by Elagina’s old friend, Lieutenant Colonel Shilov. He says that Elagina was attacked by local partisans – the so-called “forest brothers”, who, together with German and Lithuanian saboteurs, organized an enemy underground in the liberated territory. The fight against them is entrusted to Shilov, and he invites Elagina to join his city investigative team. Major Elagina and Fedorenko remain with Shilov. He particularly relies on the Major’s investigative experience and assigns her to solve the most difficult problems in investigations. At the same time, he protects and takes care of her in a friendly manner from everything that could interfere with Elagina’s future meeting with her husband and their common Victory.
